I read it a couple of Years ago in Spanish and decided to Buy it to read again. Just in case your were wondering it is not a Fairytale book it is more Psychological, motivational book it helps you see things in a different perspective, like what you should deserve in Life.
A wonderful introduction to defense by one of the finest bridge writers. The only reservation is that some of the content is a bit dated. For example, Kantar recommends playing the K from AKx, and the modern treatment is to lead the Ace. It's a small thing, but lead to some tense moments in my last duplicate game! If you are learning to play bridge, you need this book. It's the finest bridge text I've read yet, on a par with Watson's Play of the Hand.
This is a great book that I have bought for friends several times. It is a journey of self empowerment for anyone that feels she needs outside validation
Best bridge book I've read so far. Play never changes but bidding stems do. This is a book for the ages. Thankfully it has not gone out of print.
My therapist gave me this book to read. I ordered one for my adult daughters too. The delivery is much like a fairy tale, and the prince in the story turns out to not be such a nice person. The personal growth of the princess had an enormous impact on me - I was weeping as I read towards the end, with my (now ex) husband saying "what the heck is wrong" - it truly was that powerful (and I'm not normally a weeper).For anyone who grew up in a verbally and physically abusive family, or ended up with someone who displayed the same traits, this book is wonderful!
This book is the 1968 edition. Bridge bidding and play has changed a lot since then. The age of the book makes its content much less relevant for today's bridge players. The seller should include more info regarding the book in its description to prevent this type of misunderstanding.Charley
