Someone bought us a copy of this book for our baby shower, and I remember reading it a lot and crying over how sweet it was (woohoo pregnancy hormones!). So when our good friend announced they were expecting, I bought it immediately to add to their shower gift.It's a great little book, with a sweet message and a pretty clever intro to all the wonderful characters of Dr. Seuss. My now-two-year-old and I still read this book often and he gets excited and points to all the characters from his other books, so it's a book you can keep reading for a long time.
This book is not really an adaptation of "Oh, the places you'll go". Instead, it is a collection of references to various Dr. Seuss books. If you are a Dr. Seuss fan and plan on introducing your little one to all of those beloved books, you will probably love this book. But for me, it was devoid of meaningful content. It is not an actual story.I bought it because I was looking for something to read to my baby before she is born, and this book is made for that. But I wish I'd seen previews first. I suppose it is not very aptly named. I am returning it and will read "Oh Baby Go Baby" to my little one instead, as that is just a simplified version of the original (with fun tactile aspects for when baby gets older).
I love this book so much, when I was pregnant with my last couple of babies my husband at the time would read this book to my belly to our baby in my belly LOL and now my daughter is pregnant and I'm going to use this book at her baby shower as the guest book for her guests to sign and put their best wishes for my grandbaby!
I bought this book for my sister before the birth of her first little one, and as a huge Dr. Seuss fan I was just a bit disappointed. I knew it wasn't actually a Dr. Seuss original, but had still hoped it would fall in line with his work. Honestly, the story's a little rough. It's basically a mashup of any Dr. Seuss book you can remember. Still a cute gift I suppose, and the quality of the book itself is great, just not as good as a real Dr. Seuss story.
The book is adorable and heartwarming. It is meant to be read to the baby while they are still in the womb but cute enough to be read afterwards, too. It is a bit smaller than i was expecting, but not too small. My only real complaint is that there is no blank page in the beginning of the book, which doesn't affect anything except i wanted to use it as a guest book for my daughter's baby shower. She says she doesn't mind if people write over the illustration on the inside cover so i will still use it. And I would have kept the book regardless because it is so cute. A lot of the book is just rhymes including different Seuss characters but they all lead up to a very heartwarming ending.
This is specially-focused version of the timeless classic. I bought this specifically for my new grandchild and read it aloud the first time while the baby was still in the womb. Will re-read each time I visit. The "regular" version of this book is one of the top 5 recommended books for adults,too! You can't go wrong...at any age!
When our daughter graduated from collage several years ago we purchased this book for her in the not baby format. It is one of her favorite books and uses it as a teaching tool in her class room. When she got pregnant and wanted books instead of cards, it was a no brainer to get this book.
So the picture does show the size against a person but still when I received it, seemed smaller than I thought. Used at my baby shower for guests to write notes for babies. Still a cute book and was able to have plenty of pages for people to write on.
