I have never taken organic chemistry before so I bought this book as a preview and plan to read it over the summer before taking the actual course. I am more than 2/3 of the way through the book and overall I have to say it has been very helpful. The practice problems help to increase understanding further. The author does a good job at trying to make the subject interesting and adding in specific hints and details when applicable. However, I have noticed that topic coverage of certain subjects is a bit sparse, and I found numerous errors in the book already. I think that this book is comparable to Organic Chemistry for Dummies. I believe that book has a bit more detail and explanation. However, it lacks practice problems. Overall I think either book is a good bet.Addition- as I am nearing the end of the book now I have discovered countless more errors. Had I known this book was so error ridden I would have never purchased it. While I think the material is good and helpful, I would not recommend purchasing this book unless you want to sort through lots of typing and content errors
If you want to try to learn OChem from scratch, look elsewhere. This book is great though if you are in OChem or have taken it and need to refresh your memory of certain concepts. It's definitely not an in depth look at Organic, but when reviewing for a comprehensive test, it sure comes in handy.
Organic chemistry is all about the details, and while it was my professor who wrote this book, there are not nearly enough details about the reactions or examples provided in the text to be of any use to me. I hope anyone else who buys this has a better experience with it then I did because I found it utterly useless.

easy to understand, and follow. needed a crash course on organic chemistry before taking PCAT and so far this book is good at explaining the basics.
This book is very good, it explains in an easy to understand manner organic chem.It's quite simple, I'm not sure I would use just that as a sole source to study, but it does helps a lot to clarify subjects and makes it more clear.I would defiantly recommend this for whoever has some trouble understanding organic chemistry.
The author clearly has experience teaching Organic Chemistry. He anticipated MY questions pretty well - I've been using this to help fill in the blanks when my class text gets too difficult to understand. I would recommend this to college students who are taking Organic Chem.
Although I received As in chemistry, I never got the hack of organic chemistry. My professor was very good, the text was good, but somehow I missed something. This book did help though, I will say. I understood a few more things better after this. The book is very good if you need a refresher.
